Most of the lofts in Seattle are found in Belltown, Pioneer Square, and Capital Hill, but there are also lofts in Midtown and South Lake Union. A few lofts can be found in North Seattle and Bellevue.
Seattle Lofts
Lofts are becoming very popular in Seattle. A loft is a condominium or apartment that has been created by converting industrial or commercial space into residential housing. They have become so popular that some developers are even building loft-type apartments as new construction. The loft movement started in New York but has spread across the county and into Europe. Size and Price Range
Lofts tend to be open and airy. They often have high ceilings and large windows to let in lots of light. The goal is to use as few walls and as many windows as possible. Some lofts have two stories, and these are called “New York” or “True” Lofts. They are usually small, ranging in size from about 500 square feet to around 2000 square feet. While many lofts are quite expensive, there are also lofts available for the more budget-conscious. Lower-end lofts in Seattle start at around $200,000. (See lofts)
All lofts are located in downtown or other densely populated urban areas. Part of the appeal of loft living is the ready access to restaurants, shopping, public transportation, and other urban attractions.
